Do you find yourself often experiencing a mid-morning or mid-afternoon energy crash? These so-called “crashes” can totally ruin your day. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to always feel refreshed at work?

Having energy is important because it has the power to make your day successful. Imagine beating your deadlines and holding those meetings with enthusiasm.

Lifestyle Solopreneur wants to show you a list of simple things you can do to have the energy you need to thrive. It doesn’t matter if you are a solopreneur, entrepreneur, or an employee. Keep reading.

1. Keep your work space bright.

Light keeps you awake while darkness makes you sleepy. With this in mind, make sure that your space is well-lit. Open the window blinds to let sunlight in or get a desk lamp.

2. Take a brisk walk.

Sitting in one position for long periods can decrease your energy. When this happens, stand up and get your blood pumping. Take a five-minute stroll around the office. This activity oxygenates your brain.

3. Use energizing scents.

Certain scents can wake you up. Opt for an essential oil, lotion, or tea that has the following scents (as recommended by Sleep.org):

  • Peppermint
  • Citrus
  • Rosemary
  • Eucalyptus

4. Begin your day with lemon water.

While there are plenty of bogus health trends, drinking lemon water first thing in the morning isn’t one of them. Lemon water refreshing to your senses. It’s packed with vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties.

5. Sometimes, a power nap will do.

Various studies demonstrate how helpful short naps can be for increasing your focus and reducing your stress. Nap for no longer than 30 minutes or else you might enter slow-wave sleep. Nap in your car or at your desk if it’s allowed.

6. Have some coffee.

If you’re looking for a quick energy boost, a cup of coffee can do the trick. Choose black coffee and sweeten it with stevia. Regular sugar will only increase your blood glucose, leading to energy crashes.

7. Avoid overeating at lunch.

Food influences the production of melanin in your brain. Melanin is a hormone that’s responsible for sleepiness. Eat slowly and don’t consume everything in one go. Better yet, don’t eat a carbohydrate-heavy lunch. Opt for protein and healthy fats.

8. Get a plant for your office desk.

Having more greenery in your work space is associated with reduced stress and negative mood states. Plants stimulate the senses and bring about positive energy. Succulents and lucky bamboos are great options.

9. Eat an energy-boosting snack.

When you go for four to five hours without eating, your energy levels start to crash. To prevent this from happening, have a portable snack that’s high in protein and low in sugar. Have jerky, greek yogurt, tuna, or hard-boiled eggs.

10. Play some music.

The right music can energize you and boost your mood. Upbeat music can get you into flow. Try Classical, Chill Lo-Fi, and Spanish Guitar. Check out this list by Minutes.co.
