How to Make Business Traveling Less Stressful

  • Comments Off on How to Make Business Traveling Less Stressful

Are you traveling to another city or country to attend a conference or meet with a mastermind group? We’re all aware that traveling can be stressful. You have less control over the external stresses of traveling. Not to mention its impact on your health and productivity. To make it less daunting, we’ve compiled these tips for you.

6 Ways to Make Business Traveling Less Stressful

1. Schedule extra time for yourself.

Instead of flying back home from the trip, take an extra day to enjoy the place. Go sightseeing, take pictures, and learn the culture of the area. Business travel should not be all about business. Spending time doing something else can refresh and re-energize you.

2. Prepare for jet-lag.

Business travel can disrupt your sleep, especially if you’re switching to a different time zone. If that’s the case, make sure that you adjust your sleep schedule three to five days before your flight. Move it earlier or later depending on your destination’s time zone. Deal with drowsiness like you would at home: Drink a cup of coffee or take naps.

3. Know your key objectives.

Why are you doing that business trip in the first place? Is it to meet with a supplier? Build connections with like-minded individuals? Whatever that is, always keep your WHY in mind so that it’s easier to stay focus on the meet-up. At the end of the day, take some time to evaluate what you have learned. Maybe jot down some ideas on how you can use your learnings in your business.

4. Try to get some work done.

One of the reasons why business travel stresses solopreneurs is that they deal with loads of work when they get home. The more you can get done while traveling, the less you’ll have to face later. The moment you’re on the place, start working. When you get back to the hotel from the meeting, spend a few minutes responding to emails or messages from your team on Skype or Slack.

5. Don’t forget to move your body.

You may have traveled, but you didn’t get to move those muscles. Plan an exercise routine that you can follow during the trip. The good news is that there are a lot of workouts that need zero equipment and require minimal space. Do some bodyweight squats, planks, walking lunges, jumping jacks, and high knees.

6. Make it easy for yourself.

Never travel without researching your destination ahead of time. Find out if there are restaurants, shops, and stores near your hotel. You may also ask your team to do the research for you. Since you’re bound to feel hungry any time, pack healthy and convenient snacks with you. Pack snacks that won’t melt, smell, or expire soon.

Final Thoughts

A little preparation allows you to maximize your business trip while staying happy and healthy. Last but not least, don’t forget to let everyone know about your trip and that you’d appreciate it if they kept their messages to a minimum. That way, you won’t get overwhelmed!
