What is Brain Fog? And How to Get Rid of It

  • Comments Off on What is Brain Fog? And How to Get Rid of It

Entrepreneurs experience constant stress that sometimes leads to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), subjectively known as brain fog. It’s persistent fatigue experienced physically and cognitively for more than six months. Due to the busy schedules of entrepreneurs, brain fog can result from a lack of sleep, poor nutrition, stress, or spending too much time on the computer.

While this condition is not yet fully understood, experts often describe it as slow thinking, difficulty focusing, lack of concentration, or uncertainty in thought processes. If brain fog is left untreated, it can lead to other conditions such as abnormal menstruation in women, obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease. To avoid further problems in your health and performance at work, here are five ways to destress and get rid of brain fog.

1. Get enough sleep

To avoid brain fog while doing your business, get enough sleep as possible. Aim to be in bed before 10 p.m. As entrepreneurs, you’re absorbing so many business affairs, some positive and others not. With no adequate sleep, brain fog is possible. So, take a break from work, and always remember to have a well-rested day.

2. Reduce your stress

Entrepreneurs are prone to too many stressors such as urgent deadlines and unending meetings. When you can’t manage it well, it may lead to brain fog. Don’t overlook your mental health when business life gets tough. Make a commitment to take a break and do something to reduce your stress, such as thinking of a peaceful place that can make you relax. It can be your dream destination or your last trip with your loved ones.

3. Spend time away from your gadgets

Running a business comes with too many upcoming calls and reports to be reviewed. Doing this for an entire day without taking breaks will eventually lead to headaches, exhaustion, and brain fog. Don’t let this happen. Try spending your day away from gadgets from time to time. You may set a fixed time when to drop off your phones and laptops and stop entertaining anything related to your business.

4. Engage in fun activities

When entrepreneurs give too much of their time and energy to their business with little rest, lack of nutrition, and sleep deprivation, their body naturally collapses. For this reason, some will experience brain fog for months if not prevented. Thus, it’s always a good idea to engage in fun activities outside work. You may take a short trip to the beach, go biking or join mountain trekking. Trying fun activities will help you free your mind from all the stress.

5. Make time to exercise

Don’t make an excuse that you’re too busy in your business that you can’t do a workout. Make time to exercise, stretch your muscles and burn some calories. Exercise will help you release toxins from your body, including business exhaustion, and give you back the energy you lost. It will also prevent you from experiencing brain fog.

Conclusion

Navigating the world of business is not that easy. Your mind has too many things to think of at once and you have so many things to do. Entrepreneurs are prone to stress and overwork, which result in brain fog. When you have this syndrome, you forget work stuff, you’re easily irritated, and you lack energy, which can affect your business.

Follow these five tips and don’t allow your business affairs to stress you out.
