15 Health and Wellness Tips for the Busy Solopreneur

  • Comments Off on 15 Health and Wellness Tips for the Busy Solopreneur

When your ambitions and family welfare are at stake, you automatically go on a work-hard mode to preserve their safety. During this mode, you’re more focused on getting the tasks done and earning paper.

While this may be a good thing for your family and your business, it also leaves you no time to care for yourself leading to a prolonged burnout. And when you’ve burnt out, you’ll start to experience health problems like poor mental performance, insomnia, body aches, and low immunity.

Either way, you’ll be sick, leaving your business and family unattended. Is this worth the sacrifice? No, it’s not. You can do a lot of hard work while still being able to take care of your health and overall welfare. Here are some of the very important and useful tips.

1.  Spend an hour outside daily

When taking your lunch, get out and breathe the fresh outdoor air. Do some stretchings along the way.

2.  Eat healthier

Choose foods to cook that are natural like veggies and lean meat. Processed fast foods put you at risk of having heart problems, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

3.  Sit with a proper posture

Sit upright when working and avoid slouching. An ergonomic chair will help you with this. Buy one if you can and use it.

4.  Make sure you breathe fresh air

Don’t just breathe in the outdoor air during your breaks. Open your office window as well provided that your office isn’t near busy roads.

5.  Stand up from time to time

Stay active even while working. Get off your chair and do some light stretching activities. You’ll also avoid feeling drowsy this way.

6.  Communicate with partners during lunches or after work

Conversations increase alertness and improve business relationships. Instead of taking lunch or unwinding alone, why not meet up with a business partner or a client?

7.  Stick to a healthy sleep schedule

Proper rest is an important thing to have for mental health and wellness. Sleep early at night so you’ll get your recommended hours of nighttime rest. Avoid gadgets before bed.

8.  Don’t forget to be social

Being social doesn’t have to be hanging out with clients or partners alone. Staying in touch with old friends and family members is also one way to destress yourself

9.  Have a work-and-play schedule

Life isn’t all about hustling hard to reach your ambitions. You also need fun to be happy along the journey. Have the weekends dedicated to our hobbies. You’ll have something you can happily look forward to during weekdays.

When you’re back on Monday, you’ll be refreshed and ready to go again.

10.  Give yourself some physical challenges

Exercise is important to maintain a healthy mind and body. Give yourself the need to do extra effort. Instead of parking near the front door of your office, park far away. Then, walk across the parking lot. Or, bike to the office.

11.  Hire a virtual assistant

Doing everything yourself can be tiring. We’re not machines. Get someone who’s willing to be paid to handle your appointments and make calls to business-partners you have no time for.

12.  Keep things in perspective

Every problem has a solution. How you react to it is what matters. When managing business stress and problems, always take a deep breath first and handle everything calmly.

13.  Limit procrastinating agents

Social media or games will waste a lot of your time causing you to cram in finishing tasks. Schedule your non-solopreneurial activities after work. Or if your hands are itchy to know what’s going on, open your phone for a minute or two then put it in the drawer.

14.  Drink more water

Hydration is essential in keeping your body functioning at its best. It also is a big help to flush toxins out. Always drink a full glass of water every hour.

15.  Remember to separate life and work

Hustling hard can be stressful. Keep in mind to separate that stress from your personal life. You don’t want to bring the troubles of the office into your last haven of peace – your home.

Your capital as a solopreneur for business success is your mind and body.  Being busy wears these aspects down. That is why take care of yourself properly. Eat healthily and sleep well at night. Have fun when there’s no work and cherish the time with people who bring you joy.
