16 Tips for Working from Home You Need Now

  • Comments Off on 16 Tips for Working from Home You Need Now

Which environment really allows you to be more productive at work? The office or your home? Both settings equally have their own perks. But, both also have their share of distractions. Some are even similar and the same.

Your partner talking to you while you work is just as distracting as a co-worker who barges into your office with gossip. Or, you can be your own distraction due to the freedom of no supervisor watching.

Whatever your distractions are, these 16 tips will surely help you get tasks done as if you were in your company’s office.

1. Maintain regular hours

Sticking to a working schedule will help you have a healthy work-life balance.

2. Make a permanent workspace

Be somewhere in the house that’s free from distractions while you work. Away and muffled from the noisy neighbors, your kids, pets, or the T.V. Check this article out for a clearer view on how to create a home office.

3. Invest in quality technology

The latest gadgets have powerful specs that process information at high speeds. Say goodbye to freezing apps and programs that delay your work.

4. Start early

Get more things done and clock out earlier than you usually do.

5. Make social media hard to access

Social media is equal to procrastination and that’s common sense. Set your browser to be shortcut-free. Keep your phone silent and put it in the table drawer.

6. Schedule breaks

Don’t forget to rest your eyes or take a breather from sitting and facing the computer.

7. Set ground rules with other people in your space

During these times, you have no choice but to work in your home where your partner and children are at. To avoid distractions for work, kindly ask them not to be rowdy or enter your workspace during your working hours.

8. Create a morning routine

Like wearing proper clothing, routine helps in setting your mind to working mode. If a cup of coffee is what you need before you sit in the office, then include coffee drinking in your routine.

9. Get comfy office furniture

Ergonomic furniture makes your office work easier by providing you with comfort. The more comfortable you are, the less distracted and irritated you become for maximum productivity.

10. Avoid work creep

Working from home has its own dangers. Since your work is now in your home, there’s a high chance of taking office frustration to the living room and bedroom. Be conscious of this to avoid it.

11. Discover high productivity periods

Know which part of the day you feel more alert. Then schedule to do your difficult tasks there.

12. Get out

Aside from taking breaks, you can also leave your home and take walks. Breathe in the fresh outdoor air while doing some stretchings.

13. Run your day as you would in the office

What kind of schedule did you have at the office? Use that same schedule as you work in your home office.

14. Pretend it’s like going to the office

Wearing your PJs while working at home makes you feel relaxed. Putting on your office suit puts you in a mental state of being busy. The busier you feel, the more productive you become.

15. Save calls for the afternoon

Planning to call the company? Or are you just looking to check out on friends or family? Do that when your work is done. They need workplace focus just as much as you do.

16. Don’t hesitate to make requests

If there’s anything you need from your employers or some issues you want to sort out, don’t be scared to address them. Ask help if needed and don’t try to do what you can’t.

There’s nothing that beats an office setting to inspire worker productivity. The best thing you can do is to set a designated workspace and transform it into an office as much as you can. Don’t forget to keep and maintain your morning routines. Take breaks when needed.
