A Solopreneur’s Guide to De-Stressing This Holiday Season

  • Comments Off on A Solopreneur’s Guide to De-Stressing This Holiday Season

You’ve worked all year round in your solopreneur business. During the holidays, you could be busy with preparations and family gatherings – not to mention your holiday marketing campaigns. This busyness can threaten your health, happiness, and well-being!

But can I tell you something? The holidays don’t have to wear you out. Like everybody else, you deserve to rest and enjoy yourself. Start by setting boundaries and following the tips below. Read on.

How You Can De-Stress This Holiday Season

1. A little planning goes a long way!

Without planning, your marketing calendar can easily get filled with unexpected tasks. Know that it’s never too early to plan your holiday marketing. Aside from your marketing calendar, think about the demands at home. How do you accommodate relatives who are coming? What about those holiday meals?

2. Limit your phone screen time.

Ideally, solopreneurs should be doing this no matter the time of the year. If you’re guilty of constantly checking emails and social media updates, now is a perfect time to put limits on your screen time. Designate a no-phone window each day. For example, 5pm onwards.

3. Immerse yourself in non-work related activities.

The goal here is to focus on things that are completely unrelated to your business. You cannot relax during the holidays if all you’re thinking are new business strategies, goals you’ve missed – so on. Read a fiction book. Watch funny movies with your loved ones. Go ice skating.

4. Don’t overcommit yourself to social gatherings.

Just because you’ve taken a short break from your business, doesn’t mean you should say YES to all requests in your personal life – especially when it comes to parties and gatherings with friends. Too many parties and scheduled dinners can take away the time you can spend unplugging.

5. Limit your sugar intake.

Addictive sugary treats are abundant this holiday season. If you’re trying to cope with stress, eating too much sugar makes stress even worse. It can also damage your metabolism. A healthy alternative that contains no calories and has a glycemic index of zero is stevia. Use it for baking or sweetening any drink.

6. Prioritize workouts.

Exercising reduces your stress hormones and releases endorphins. I know that a lot of entrepreneurs lack physical activity. Aim to move more this holiday season. Start with a simple workout each day, such as jogging or running on the treadmill. If you’re hanging out with your kid, play a fun game that allows you to move.

7. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

Forget perfectionism. While you want the holiday break to go perfectly, there will always be situations that can annoy you. Whether your house is cluttered or your visitors arrived late, let it go. Focus on the good stuff. If you stay calm, your holiday becomes more enjoyable!

Conclusion

Soak in the holiday cheer. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself, your loved ones, and your business this season. If you follow the tips above, you’ll be able to head back to work feeling your best! I know that 2020 will be a great year for your solopreneur business.
