How to Eat Healthily Even When You’re Busy Running Your Business

  • Comments Off on How to Eat Healthily Even When You’re Busy Running Your Business

Being a business owner is one of the busiest and most unpredictable jobs. You spend most of your time at the office doing paperwork. On some occasions, you become the backup for lower-level decision-making processes and even menial tasks. Because of this, you’re prone to making unhealthy food choices due to eating what’s convenient or readily available.

This is especially true if there’s a fast-food chain, minimart, burger joint, or a hotdog stand nearby. And the more you allow yourself to make poor eating decisions, the sooner you would gain weight to the risk of having diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. Here are strategies on how to keep eating healthy food at work even when you have little to no time for prep.

1. Simplify your meals

Don’t plan meals that require a lot of intricacies to prepare. Save your steak-cooking efforts for special occasions. Be practical. A green salad with hard-boiled eggs or sunny side ups with bread for lunch is enough to satisfy your belly and energize you until you clock out.

2. Never skip breakfast

In terms of a morning rush that would make you skip breakfast, avoid it by sleeping and waking up early. If you cannot do this due to rendering extra hours for work at night, then invest in healthy packed meals or use slow overnight cookers.

By the time you wake up, all you need to do is eat the slow-cooked meal as you dress up for work. Pre-packed meals are also ideal because you can heat them as you bathe and eat them when you’re out of the shower

3. Prepare your ingredients in advance

If you really want to keep eating full-course meals even with a busy schedule, then chop all the ingredients like meat, spices, and veggies in advance. Divide them in healthy portions before storing them in food containers. This will help you save a lot of time in the morning by eliminating preparation and heading straight to the cooking process.

4. Utilize food containers

Speaking of food containers, use one from your collection as your lunchbox for work. I know this sounds like going back to primary and middle school. But it’s more environmentally friendly, convenient, and can save a lot of costs than eating out.

5. Consider no-cook meals

No-cook meals are like pre-packed meals but instead, they will be prepared by you and mostly require no heating. They are the ultimate staple for entrepreneurs who are always on the go. They don’t spoil easily, are nutritious, delicious, and highly filling even with small portions. The drawback is that these meals require a lot of time to prepare and should be done on the weekends.

While eating healthy foods is the best way to stay fit and energized on a busy day, it’s also important to follow a consistent eating schedule. Set an alarm to remind you of lunch breaks and snack times. When it goes off, stop everything you do to enjoy your meals.

Lastly, avoid cooking meals with ingredients that are highly processed like white bread, flour, and seed oils too often. They’re high in preservatives and are likely to cause inflammation.
