Essential Productivity Tips for Part-Time Solopreneurs

  • Comments Off on Essential Productivity Tips for Part-Time Solopreneurs

Many successful solopreneurs start out by having a regular day job and starting a part-time business. It’s a smart decision that they keep their day job until their business is bringing revenue.

If you are in this situation, I know that it can also be challenging to balance your responsibilities at work and family time. Because on top of that, you also want to make sure that you make progress in your side hustle.

Today, I’m going to share with you valuable tips that will help you manage your time, stop feeling overwhelmed, and maximize every minute you got… so you can succeed!

1. Always create a to-do list.

One simple way for you to be able to get things done is to actually create a to-do list. Busy people struggle to remember every single task that needs to be completed. But remember: Make your list realistic!

2. Hire someone who can keep you balanced.

Yes! Two or three people working together are better than someone who’s running a business alone. Outsource repetitive tasks to freelancers so that you’ll have more focus on high-level tasks.

3. Get better at saying no.

If you often find yourself not having enough time, perhaps you’re overcommitting yourself. Starting today, you need to evaluate if every request is worth saying yes to. Are you saying yes just because you don’t want to disappoint someone? Do you find that task enjoyable or worth doing?

4. Use tools to streamline your process.

Online tools make it remarkably easy to complete business tasks that would normally take a lot of time. For example, Zapier automates tasks by connecting hundreds of apps. Let’s say you have an app that collects people’s email addresses. One way that Zapier helps is that it does the work of moving those email addresses to your email autoresponder.

5. Take time for yourself.

Self-care should be a priority, not a luxury. Spending time to relax and rejuvenate keeps your mind sharp and energy up. While self-care is important, it differs from person to person. Yours could mean exercising, taking a nap, or eating something delicious and healthy.

6. Cut out distractions.

Distractions can be external and internal. Anxious thoughts, clutter, social media, and multi-tasking. Regardless, they cause delays and a massive loss in productivity. One effective strategy to tune everything out is to tune into music. Find a playlist that helps you concentrate. Try Bossa Nova and Jazz Music.

7. Create a realistic work schedule.

To build a successful part-time business, you must set aside specific hours of the day for working on it. You can’t just work whenever you want or feel like doing so, and expect the best results. You could commit to specific nights during the week and afternoons over the weekend.

Last but not least, be patient with yourself and enjoy the ride! The solopreneur lifestyle should be rewarding, even if you’re just starting out part-time. For more solopreneur, lifestyle, and productivity tips, check out our blog section.
