It’s just the third month of the year and you could be feeling burned out, anxious, and stressed. This is is the result of having a lot on your plate. Don’t overdo yourself. Challenging activities are good for improvement but it’s important to know when to take a break. A solopreneur’s responsibilities are often plenty and will stack one after another. But remember – we live only once and our is valuable. Learn to take better care of your mental, physical, and emotional health in these simple ways. 

1. Go to the gym at least once a week

You’re not required to become a fitness junkie just to be stress-free. A day in a week just to detoxify your body will be enough self-care to keep you free from physical stress by improving your endurance to pain and releasing feel-good hormones. 

2. Unfollow toxic social media accounts

Seeing what you don’t like or people ranting can give you negative vibes. This isn’t healthy for your emotional and mental being. How do you avoid them? Unfollow them – yes, it’s the easiest thing to do. Things we see on the internet can influence our feelings, so make sure to reduce the impact of social media by doing this tip. 

3. Go on vacation

Being stuck in a schedule can cause anxiety. Break your routine by indulging in de-stressing activities outside of your normal environment. Go to the beach. Hike in the forest or the mountains. Live the “hakuna matata life” for a while.

4. Refill your water bottle every hour

One way to make yourself healthy is to drink a lot of water everyday. The technique is to refill your bottle every hour. So when you refill you’d be able to check your drinking progress. Did you down it all before refilling? No? Time to drink then!

5. Lunchtime strolling

Sometimes an after-lunch sleep can leave you groggy for the afternoon, coupled with the feeling of urgency to keep pushing through unfinished work. Here’s an alternative. Why not go for a revitalizing stroll after lunch while stretching and taking deep breaths? 

6. Make use of your weekends

If you can’t go on vacation, spend your weekends with your friends, family, or your partner. Being with your loved ones can cure that burnout, remove your anxieties, and relieve your emotional stresses. Go for a barbecue in the backyard with a couple of beers. Play a board or card game. Fly a kite together. 

7. Donate your time

Going on volunteers gives us a sense of purpose, boosts our self-esteem, and alleviates our anxiety by helping and sympathizing with those who need it. We help ourselves by being there for others as well. 

8. A device-free hour break

Technology overuse has affected our sleep and relaxation in a negative way. It causes stress buildup during the day. So the next time you take an hour of break, put your phone, laptop, or tablet out of reach as a measure for avoiding distraction for relaxation.

9. Discover a new hobby

Aside from going on vacations, kill your mental stresses by discovering a new hobby that you can enjoy doing on weekdays and weekends. Biking, for instance, is an outdoor exercise that lets you enjoy the view outside while working out.

10. Get a massage or go to a spa

Do you want those aching bones and muscles from sitting in the office all day to relax and heal? Have a shiatsu massage to relieve stress, pain, and tension. Or are you worried about those dark circles around your eyes? A sauna will improve your skin while making you really feel good afterwards.

Burnout caused by office stress is harmful to everyone’s health. Learn to avoid and deal with it by taking better care of yourself through the tips we just shared. At the first signs of stress, anxiety, and burnout, take a break and find relaxation!
